My sister, Leya loves playing golf. She is very passionate about using the game she loves to help others, including me. She is working with the American Junior Golf Association to raise money for junior golfers who cannot afford to play golf at the national level as well as a charity of her choice. She chose the Seattle Children's Foundation.
Golf is a game that exemplifies the spirit of giving and I am so blessed to be a part of this most wonderful game. My hope is to use this game of golf that I so love to raise money for the Seattle Children’s Foundation
"Dr. Suskind’s mission with the Seattle Children’s Foundation is to improve the quality of care and clinical outcomes for patients with IBD by focusing on the patient and not just the disease they are dealing with. An expert in intestinal diseases, Dr. Suskind has focused much of his energy into clinical care and research for inflammatory bowel disease. He is leading a national effort to integrate nutritional therapy into clinical care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and to studying the effect of dietary therapy in inflammatory bowel disease."
The Seattle Children’s Foundation is important to me because my brother, Harley, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease four years ago at the age of ten. In order to recover, Harley went on the SCD Diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet). In order to support my brother, I went on the diet with him. Harley and I had to give up many foods that we had loved for years. We found many alternatives and have become much healthier together! There’s been lots of ups and downs, but I’m so proud of the progress he’s made! He’s very active and he plays many sports, including golf! I hope to help people like Harley by raising money for the Seattle Children’s Foundation to support Dr. Suskind’s Nimbal Study. Your dollars will not only support the funding Seattle Children’s Foundation, but also will impact other junior golfers as well through the ACE Grant program. Your contributions will help talented junior golfers with a desire to better their life through playing junior golf and earning a college golf scholarship. These juniors lack the financial resources to compete at the national level to gain exposure to these scholarships. They need our help as well. The scholarships these juniors earn through their play change the course of their life and the life of their future family.
